Have you ever seen stranger than fiction? Chances are you've probably seen it already. And if you're like our dear old Mr. Harold Crick, you probably have your very own guitar fetish yourself as well. Well actually it doesn't have to be a guitar, it could be any musical instrument of your choice really. Music is a gift, a gift that we can admire or one that we could foster, refine, and eventually master. One always relates music with some level of happiness, some life changing event that had fascinated you. Music is the language of love as well; it always has a fitting tune whether you've fallen in love or out of it. Music goes beyond the language barrier and certain cultures. Sure you might live 3,000 miles away from America, but that's not going to stop you or anyone else from appreciating the works of such talented artists like Burt Bacharach, Elvis Costello, Elvis Presley and other people like Jimi Hendrix. 1. Is rocking out your type of thing? If you've followed the careers of such musicians like Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, John Mayer, and many other guitarists, you can definitely call yourself a musician. If you love their work, what better way to pay respect to the greats of the guitar by practicing on one yourself? Keep the music alive. Spread the word to your family and friends. If you don't have your own guitar, buy one. If you don't know how to play a guitar, learn how to. Listening to music is one thing, but knowing how to play it brings you to a level so much higher. Playing pieces created by others isn't only practice, its paying homage as well. 2. It's an awfully wonderful hobby if you start. If you have a lot of free time on your hands, learning how to play an instrument is a lot better than engaging in vices and other things harmful to your health. Doing drugs, cigarettes and alcohol sure might look fun in the movies; but it's not all parties and one night stands in real life. People have died from drug overdoses, and from car accidents due to drunk driving. Cigarettes too are no stranger to death. It has led to many cancer related deaths. So the next time you think that doing vices is cool, think again. Instead of picking up another drink, how about considering picking up a guitar or a flute instead? 3. Pianos are a really wonderful addition to your home. Several people have been made famous because of their talent at playing the piano and composing wonderful tunes and melodies. We've heard their names before and we'll definitely hear them again. Their works have stood the test of time; Beethoven, Chopin, and many other pianists have made a name for themselves in the music scene. And their works and their accomplishments will live on forever. You too can have a musical genius in your very own home. One thing that hinders talented people from realizing their true potential is the lack of resources. If you can afford to buy a piano or to have some piano lessons, encourage your child to learn how to play the piano. It's a wonderful additional skill set to a number of talents that your child can learn starting at a very young ages. Who knows, they might grow up to be the next musical greats. |
